Upper Bree has fully embraced its reputation as the innercity’s hip hub, with its own cocktail emporium, a dedicated gin bar (the Mother City’s first-ever), a cheese club, and a bacon bazaar. Um, what more could you ask for? An underground-themed bar, maybe?
The Station on Bree is your ultimate 5 star experience.
The Station is your upmarket, perfect venue, situated in Bree Street Cape Town.
The Station on Bree takes “Themed bar” to another level. Iconic sounds of the subway play over speakers in the bathrooms, which reveal exposed plumbing and copper accents. Worn-down “Mind the Gap” signage throughout gives the impression that countless soles (and souls) have scuffed against the paintwork over time. Station maps cover the ceiling, a giant platform clock presides over the bar, where a ticket window looks out onto an outdoor courtyard, boasting chalkboard table tops and a roofed train station bench. Suspended light bulbs in the main corridor change colour throughout the evening, and full-walled video timetable adds a contemporary touch. And the wait staff’s train-conductor outfits sew things up beautifully.
